Multicultural Night Potluck at Whitman

All-School Potluck and Celebration of Cultures. Come share and enjoy delicious food, entertainment and socializing with fellow Wildcat families!

  • When: Thursday May 2 from 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Where: Whitman Middle School Cafeteria
  • Who: Open to All Whitman Students and Staff and their Families
  • Why: To share cultures (food, games, art, music, traditions) and to bring the community together.

Join fellow Whitman families and staff for an evening of food, entertainment, games, art and music. There will be live performances by Whitman students and alums, including Muckleshoot Singing and Drumming with a Native Whitman Alum, Traditional Samoan Dancing, and interactive K-Pop Dance.

We need volunteers to bring food that represents their culture. It can be a country, a culture or region in a country (ie The Midwest). Please email whitmanptsaequity@gmail.com if interested in helping with multicultural night. We hope everyone can plan to attend and participate. Bring a dish reflective of your cultural heritage to share with others, or share your family’s culture (art, games, traditions)!

Please fill out the online form to indicate how you want to celebrate and showcase your family culture (can be a country or region in the US or any cultural share). Or just show up!

  • Potluck style food: We want students and families to bring food that represents their culture. It can be a country, a culture or region in a country (e.g. The Midwest), or just a favorite dish.    If you need financial aid to participate in this event, please contact our Whitman Counselors who can coordinate with PTSA
  • Food and display tables will be placed around the edge of the cafeteria. people will mingle, eat, and socialize throughout the evening, but we would clear the center when it is time for the performances.
  • Three  short (5-15 minute) live performances will be interspersed throughout the evening:
    • Traditional Samoan Dance by Whitman students
    • Muckleshoot Indian Tribe singing/drumming trio, including Native Whitman alum
    • K-Pop (Korean) Dance Group (Victorious Dance Company)  (5-6 dancers, middle school/high school age – both boys and girls.  Will potentially include interactive dance with audience, i.e. maybe teaching some moves to Whitman students.)

If you need financial aid to participate in this event, please contact our Whitman Counselors who can coordinate with the Whitman MS PTSA.
