Help Us Spread Holiday Cheer to WMS Staff by Dec. 20
Two ways to contribute:
1. Sign up to bring a treat in for the staff as they head into Winter Break. Deliver your *individually wrapped* treats to the Whitman front desk by 9am on Dec 20, the last day of school before winter break, so that staff can bring thems home with them to enjoy over break. Sign Up to Bring Treats!
2. Mail or drop off a holiday card or note in the office before Dec 20. Don’t worry about being fancy, even a note on a sticky note or napkin will spread holiday cheer!
Hall Crew Help Needed!
Join Hall Crew! Hall Crew volunteers are a friendly adult presence in the hallways at lunchtime; they encourage our Wildcat students to Be Safe, Be Respectful and to Be Responsible. It is an easy way to get involved and has a huge impact! You pick which day of the week works best for you and whether you volunteer one time a month or every other week. The schedule is set for the entire year – you will work the same day with the same team for the school year! We need 80 volunteers with Hall Crew to help it run smoothly and allow for volunteers to easily miss a shift – more volunteers means an enjoyable experience for all.
The time commitment is 10:55 a.m. – 12:36 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday volunteers are at the school from 10:35 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Please email us at WhitmanPTSAHallCrew@gmail.com to be added to our list of volunteers. There will be an in-person training for all Hall Crew volunteers the end of September.
Together we can be a positive and caring presence to all kids at Whitman! Thank you for helping to make this school year great for all the kids at Whitman!
Volunteers need to be approved to volunteer at Whitman through SPS. Please visit the information posted on the district Volunteering pages
Volunteers to Partner with Teachers and Staff
Whitman is looking for 1-2 family volunteers to join the Creative Advantage Grant Committee along with Ms. Dunnett, Ms. Gunn, and Mr. Thomas. The Creative Advantage Grant Committee serves as a bridge to bring the arts into core classes and light the fire of learning. This committee works to connect community arts partners with the teachers at Whitmans so all students can have access to the arts, even if they do not have it as an elective as well as solidify the connections between what students are hearing/learning and how it connects to their life in a fresh and meaningful way. The committee is looking for a family partner who has a passion for art in our school. If you are interested or have questions, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Shannon: whitmanptsavolunteer@gmail.com.
Our Whitman MS Black, Brown, and Ethnic Student Union (BBESU) club is being developed by Ms. Debra Deiderichs. We would love to have a family partner with Ms. Debra to help her run this program. If you are interested in this club becoming active, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Shannon: whitmanptsavolunteer@gmail.com.

Thank You Volunteers!
We want to send a big thank you to all the volunteers who show up day in and day out at Whitman Middle School. Whether you volunteer for helping us remodel the staff lunchroom, with a bake or Spirit Wear sale, our Hallway Crew, Friends of Whitman Music, Performing Arts of Whitman or in the many other ways at our school, we hope you know how much we appreciate you!! All families are welcome to join in the fun! Our school benefits so much from our volunteers!
Thank you to all the volunteers who have stepped up already! We will continue to need school support and hope you’ll evaluate which opportunity fits for you. These opportunities are in the school and require volunteers to be approved by SPS. Review the WMS Step by Step Instructions to become a Volunteer today.
Reminder! All Volunteers must sign in at the Main Office. Questions: Email Shannon Yuen, WMS PTSA Volunteer Coordinator at whitmanptsavolunteer@gmail.com
