What: Whitman PTSA General Meeting

This is a fun filled evening celebrating our volunteers, electing a new board and awarding the Golden Acorn and Outstanding Educators Awards!

The Whitman PTSA is about getting involved with your child's education, building partnerships between families and school, and working together to create better communities. Do you have experience fundraising, coordinating, or planning? Do you have a special interest or skill? If so, we need you! The Whitman PTSA Nominating Committee is recruiting for several open PTSA Board positions for the 2012-2013 school year, including:
Co-President
Fundraising VP
Treasurer
Events VP
and Volunteer Coordinator Co-VP
Serving on the PTSA Board is the perfect way to get involved at Whitman and a great way to connect with your student's school experience. We encourage everyone to consider volunteering for next year's Board. 8th Grade Promotion will be held on Tuesday, June 19th at 7pm in the south parking lot of the school.  Seating for family and friends will be festival style on the baseball field next to the parking lot.  The celebration lasts for about an hour.  This is NOT a GRADUATION like high school--8th grade students will be expected to attend the remaining three days of school.  Unless your student is ill, all other absences would be considered unexcused.

It is imperative to reach out to our school community once more before the end of the 2011-12 academic year. This is our final plea to our families to donate to the Annual Giving Campaign (AGC). Because we are short of our budget projections by about 10%, it is even more important that you contribute what you can. Even if you gave earlier in the year, please commit to our fundraising efforts for the benefit of all our children.

Also remember the passive fundraising opportunities available: Safeway and Bartell e-scrip, Ballard Market receipts, and box tops. These are easy ways to help out Whitman students at no additional cost to you. Details for scrip and box tops are described in the left-hand side of the weekly newsletters. Every little bit helps!

Be a part of your child's middle school experience! Get to know their friends, Whitman staff and other Whitman parents.
