It's not too early to be thinking about joining the 6th grade class on our end-of-year picnic celebration at Golden Gardens Park. The all-day celebration will be held on Wednesday, June 12th, from 8:00-2:00. Parents are needed to help walk our students down to the park and back, supervise activities at the park, help with serving lunch, and more! Contact Ms. Vargas at sjgilbertdevar@seattleschools.org and include your contact information (email and phone numbers).

June 13th is the 8th Grade Cruise. We will ride the Royal Argosy, taking us on a day tour of the Puget Sound. There will be a lunch buffet, all-you-can-drink soda, a DJ and a dance floor and time for you and your friends to just hang out with the beautiful views and reminisce on your years at Whitman while signing yearbooks. Cost is $25, some scholarships are available (see Ms. Fraley for scholarships). Permission slips will go out on Tuesday, May 28th and will be due by June 7th. Late permission slips or poor behavior at school can eliminate your eligibility to go, so be on your best behavior! You won't want to miss this fun event!

Attention all students! The last yearbook sale begins Tuesday, May 28th, until we sell out so don't be left out! Not sure if you've order a yearbook? Ask in the Main Office where the order forms are available. Cash or check made out to Whitman Middle School for $20. The name engraving option is no longer available.

The 8th grade transition presentation, "Stay in School, Seize Your Opportunities," for 8th grade students and their families has been changed from May 21st to June 3rd due to changes in the guest speaker's availability. Mark your calendars & stay tuned!
